I got sick of people going on and on about Bill Henson’s work being pornography rather than art, so today I decided to put my money where my mouth is and support the man behind the art.
Might do a few variations, dunno yet. Think of it as a test run, never done a t-shirt before so it could be extremely crappy haha! ;)

Did you see today’s Sunday Arts show on ABC? There was a Virginia Trioli interview with David Marr discussing his book on the subject. Very interesting and worth a look. Good on you for your support. I’m with you. Love your work.

I did indeed! I was surprised Marr wrote a book about it but was even more surprised when he said he didn’t think it would ignite more controversy, the critics are just aching for an excuse to jump on him again. So I thought screw that, even if I am the last person on earth who loves his work I am still standing by my opinion that he is one of the greatest photographers this country had produced. So I am glad you think so too :)

Nice work Harmony! I cant believe this is even an issue in the Oz media. Bill Henson was the reason I got into photography in the first place…and these kind of rhetorical conservative debates are the reason I left Australia….
Believe me, you are not the last person on earth who loves his work….he is one of my role models!... and his themes of teenage sexuality and isolation are beautifully portrayed in his work…

Henson is a great photographer no question, but he could have done that series with an 18 year old model and it would have been just as good photographically and artistically. He used that child purely for attention getting reasons, not artistic ones. He should have been locked up.
