Entertainment Photography Questions??

I am looking to speak specifically with photographers that work with models and/or musical artists. I am really confused how I should be charging these specific clients. Currently I charge for a photo shoot and give them pictures on a disk. I have been told not to give my pictures on a disk, however, how do I work with them in regards to using their pictures for CD’s or posters, etc. If I give them a disk it allows them to pick out the pictures they want to use and print them on a poster or give them to a graphic artist for design. So I am just curious how others handle working with these clients, what you charge and am interested in seeing any sample contracts that you have. I am also interested in knowing if you give them the rights to the pictures or if you hold the rights to your images. Thanks.

    Hi Jennifer,
Depends if you pay the models for posing and if they fill in a model release form.
When you pay them, all your work is yours and when they fill in the release form, you have (only you) the right to do whatever you want with the photos.
If they want copies, they should by them.

What if they are paying you for pictures for their comp cards?

Also I really need input primarily on working with musical artists for their CD’s and other promotional purposes.

I have been nude modelling for around twelve years, and the photographer, at every shoot, gets me to sign and date a “permission” slip. This gives him the permission to publish the photos, but only if my face is showing. When the photos have been processed, he will then ask me if I would like some prints for myself, and again confirms his intention of using my photos. I get paid about $150-$200 per hour for nudes. Any work that is displayed that shows my face, has to come through me first. I am given about 4-5 A4 prints to keep. Hope this helps??
