Update: Thanks God, all my relatives survived, but they lost completely their homes.
This beautiful small city is Constitucion, Chile (45.000 habitants). Very close to the epicenter of the earthquake (Grade 8.8 Richter).
This town is now completely destroyed (80 %). All buildings are damaged, even those which did not break down. Nobody can live in his home.
After the earthquake and the aftershocks, a big tzunami destroyed what the earthquake had left undestroyed.
The river to the left is the River Maule. The Maule Region is the most damaged area in Chile.
The river flooded the whole city destroying everything.
POV is toward the north (left) and the east. The town limits to the west with the pacific ocean. The tzunami came over the beach and the river maule, which flows here into the ocean.
Relatives of mine lived here, and I dont know if they survived or not, there is no communication. No phones, no celulars, no internet. There is no electricity and no water in the town.
The town is isolated, all roads are damaged.
Photo taken in Sept. 2005 when this place was a paradise.
