Villa Montalvo is an Italian Mediterranean style mansion located in Saratoga, California, it is surrounded by a magnificent park and gardens.
It was constructed from 1912 to 1914 by a Californian statesman and businessman called James Duval Phelan .After Phelan’s death it was donated to the state and became a Cultural and Arts Center .
The park and Arts Center are open to public.
Phelan chose the name" Villa Montalvo" in honor of the popular 16th Century Spanish writer Garci Ordonez de Montalvo.
