Artist's Description

Marseille is a town of art and history, it’s the third biggest city of France.
St Vincent de Paul Church called also Eglise des Réformés by its inhabitants, was built at the location of a seventeenth century Reformed Augustinian convent. It is said that the first stone of the ancient chapel consacred to St Nicolas of Tolentino was set in June 67 by the Duc de Guise, governor of Provence.
The anedoct relates tha this first stone was found again when the chapel was pulled down.
This Reformed church was built from 1855 – 1888
in the Gothic style of the 13 th century by the architect Reybaud according to the drafts of Abbé Pougnet.
You can admire this imposing church with its ogees, its bronze doors and magnificent stained glass windows at the top of the Canebière in the first arrondissement of Marseille.
Twin towers surmounted by one arrow flank the main facade, each 96 feet high .
You can also behold Jeanne d’Arc statue on the parvis of the church, famous artwork of Botinelly.
