Borage is a large hairy annual herb with beautiful blue star shaped flowers . You can perceive a black spear -pointing centre.
This wild plant was native to the eastern mediterranean region and was used by ancient Greek. It is cultivated today in various parts of Europe, Great Britain and North America.
It’s an ornamental specie ,it is also used as an herbal and eaten as vegetable.
An English proverb says :" A garden without borage is like a heart without courage."
The traditional use of borage for courage suggests that it has a supportive effect on the adrenal glands. It has since been confirmed that the plant encourages the production of adrenaline which helps the body cope with stressful situations.
An infusion of the leaves can be taken as a tonic.
Flowers and leaves relieve feve, bronchitis…The blue flowers are the more popular choice for adding to salads or garnishing sweet treat.
Borage is refreshing, women used to freeze one flower inside each ice cube they made and served them in cold drink in summer.
This gorgeous plant is a delight for our eyes and
is very useful for our health.
