blind

Near my gran’father’s farm, in “la Nièvre”, a lost country in center of France, these two old “ladies” were waiting, blind and exhausted, their forbidden owner….

I used to play in this car, mainly used as hen shelter… then , I was on a long motorway, going through desert land or tracking gangsters !!... It was a really nice playground ! lol !

Thanks Ellie ! I honored these cars just before being moved in a cars “cemetery”... They used to be black, I hope they are white as angels in their heaven ! ;-)

We have to take picture of our history, then, that’s why I’m always seeking for such a piece of our heritage before it falls in oblivion…

These old cars in farm yards where so common in the uK as well , nothing quite so stylish as thses french cars . but then France like Italy has style in its soil . Great story to your childhood as well . I was told by elders here that they would abandon cars infield entrances when broken down as in the pre and post war years there were no road side help or scrap yards locally so farmers took them like you say as chicken coups . Either that or bury them ! extraordinary but true accounts . Is this how these got there ?

    Sorry to be late…. !
Point is, in this part of France, there is nothing…. almost a no man’s land ! Then, when your car is broken down, You can’t bring it to a “casse autos” (place you stock old cars before being destroyed) and you leave it in a field, near a fence or in an old barn !
The left one was owned by my grandfather… The other one by a tourist from Paris who came through this region (La Nièvre) and had to abandoned his journey to the South right here !!! lol !
Thanks for your com’ ! Bye !
