The morning after roasting marshmallows and a midnight stroll through the woods, we walked down the coastline from our camp site to The Bluffs: sandy cliffs that drop off from the high forest above to the beach below. Here my brother Ryan is sleepily walking in front of my old camera at the exact moment I am shooting the sunrise over Lake Ontario. I didn’t take another shot, because I’ve always liked what this represented.
Ryan is now a United States Marine, enduring his training in bootcamp as we speak. We write letters back and forth every week.
There were 9 between us: brothers, cousins, and best friends, that weekend in the summer of 2007.
