This is the image that propelled my career.

It was taken on a frigid 7-degree afternoon in early January 2008. The sun was rapidly setting as I walked through the knee-deep snow of my favorite state park in Hamlin Beach, NY [USA] along the southern coast of Lake Ontario. I dove into the snow to take a dozen shots before it sank below the horizon and returned home with this.

This photograph was taken as a jpeg with my small Canon Powershot G9 compact camera, yet it has been published in 2 hard-bound coffee-table books , a college textbook , a Rochester, NY photography gallery [home of George Eastman and Kodak], and an international contest where I received my first DSLR .
