Keystone State Group Shoot News by Russell Fry

I hope that everyone is enjoying the images that were uploaded, over the last few weeks, from the Lancaster area shoot. It always amazes me to see the different shots captured by a group of photographers that are in the same area, at the same time, presented with the same or similar opportunities. It just proves that we usually all look at the same thing differently.

I thank everyone that voted for my feed scoop image. Winning the $20 voucher was a pleasant surprise because there were so many great images entered in the challenge. For those of you who might be interested in what I decided to do with the voucher, I offered it to farmer Nate as a token of appreciation for allowing the “horde” of photographers full access to his farm. Hopefully, this gift will encourage Nate to have us back again some day. The only stipulation that I attached to the gift was that Nate choose an image taken that day at his farm. This will result in a sale for one of the group that was at the shoot and it will give Nate a “professional” image of something on his farm. I have not been informed of his choice yet, but one of our members should be seeing a sale before too long.

So, what’s the next shoot in the near future? Mark your calendars for Sept. 26th and a trip to eastern PA to Bushkill Falls. You can find information on this web site. BigD is helping to plan this for us and has our thanks and appreciation. Details will be provided in a few weeks as we get closer to the date.

There is another shoot in the works for Oct. 24th at Old Bedford Village in mid PA. Here is the web site for information on this attraction. There is an entrance fee for this place, but it’s a reasonable price. Lois Bryan is coordinating this shoot and we will have more details on this one in a few weeks also.

That will likely be the end of the group shoots for 09. We will be trying to meet at the Farm Show in Harrisburg again in January. This year, snow kept us from getting together, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the 2010 event. In the spring, we may be doing a shoot at a wild animal farm about 30 miles above Harrisburg. That’s pretty much it for the preview of shoots that are being planned.

Thank you again to everyone and we hope to see you all at the next shoot.
