A Sleepy Albino Squirrel

A Sleepy Albino Squirrel

Of the two albino squirrels that I shot this morning, one was still a little sleepy. I was trying to get a clear shot of his entire head, but I couldn’t get the angle needed. Still, that twig was gripped in the squirrel’s hind foot, so I guess it was a good trade-off. It was also a rare treat to catch this little critter sleeping.

The more that I look at this picture, the more that I love it. I can’t look at it now without smiling.

I also now tend to reflect upon the helplessness of nature as man continues to invade their environment. How many animals will lose their homes to man’s quest for more profit today, tomorrow, the years ahead?

Wow!! Great capture—now is this really an Albino squirrel or one of those rare white squirrels from Brevard NC???

  • Russell Fry replied

This is an albino and the shot was taken about 5 miles from my home. They are rare enough in our area, what was really incredible is that there were two of them. I’m working on a photo that has both in the picture. The difficulty is getting it sharp enough as they were in a tree on different branches and moving.
