I’m still wondering about the ethics of dying pets (I saw them on a market stall in Malaysia)… Ok, the dye might not be harmful, but imagine the trauma of being dyed bright pink??

he probably picks up more chicks that way…they look healthy enough..which i suppose is important..but then what kind of people buy them? I would be worried that it could just attract people who think that because they are pink they are cool..and they soon lose interest in the animal itself. (bit like a fad). Hopefully not. i would find it hard to sell on animals..i would like to beleive that they are all going to great homes. :))
Ah ah ah i love your comment,! maybe he does get more chick! Apparently they are very popular, I do hope they go to good homes and don’t get dropped when losing their colour…
hey Christelle…i haven’t ever seen this dyed pets before, and had no idea of the trend… i love what sal said…he picks up more chicks that way…lol….but yeah, i think it’s very unecessary and probably harmful knowing the ammonia in such products and how it affects the lungs and can be dangerous to unborn babies…..so i imagine it could certainly shorten the life of a little mouse :( - great shot….looks like he’s about to give you a wave!! :D
Hi Karin! I was quite shocked at first glance, why would anyone want to dye animals???. Come to think of it it’s definitely not as bad as genetically modified mice that end up glowing in the dark. Still. I asked the guy who was selling them, he said he did not know how they were died, he just bought them like that. He said: humans dye their hair, why not animals. Hum, maybe because animals don’t want to?

Don’t know about the coloring thing but you’ve captured him in his surprised look so well.
