Christelle… it certainly does inspire me… the whole idea…and the beauty of the place you’ve captured there….did you ever hear of or see the New Zeland film Whalerider the little girl who would lead her people and save the whales that were beaching themselves on the shore…? It was a superb movie.

This sculpture reminds me so much of that movie…do you know what the sculpture was inspired by, i would love to know or who created it i wonder?

The idea of a small and insignificant human being transcending earthly strength, in order to effecting this act of great love… trying with all her might and strength to rescue that which is obviously so huge and unmoveable… but still refusing to give up….. the idea that where there is love, we can move mountains….. is expressed so beautifully and poignantly for us here in this beautiful image… xx

    Thanks Karin! :D
Oh I saw Whale rider, I absolutely loved it, what a beautiful film, it had a great influence on me! love the water element best…

I could not see a plaque anywhere, you remind me, I’ll try to look for it on the internet…

It is definitely the idea that love moves mountain :) I could not put it better than the way you described it! :)). This sculpture is within the citadelle, and if one does not visit it, one will never see it. A great treasure! :)

awww… this is a beautiful shot, Christelle!! what was the story behind the sculpture? is it because there are whales that often get stranded by the beach there.. it’s so sad to hear them going up to the beach.. is it true it’s because they’re somehow lost? i feel so lost and worry for them when i see them on shore.. it’s like.. “ARGH!!! Somebody push them back into water!!!!” OO”

Thanks! Well, I saw no plaque, and have not yet found it on the net.. :(
The gulf or St Tropez is way too small for whales. There has been sharks – a mummy shark gave birth in the harbour! :O – and dolphons though..
Yes they say they get lost.. yes, it’s too late by that time usually. ..

Thanks! I am still trying to trace the author, all I have been able to glean is that he is Italian…
