Orbea variegata - Starfish Cactus by

I’m not certain of the name of this succulent. It’s very hard to find any print or information on it.
I think it is from the Heurnia family.
It would be great if anyone could identify it for me please.

I finally have a name for this succulent, it’s Orbea variegata or Starfish Cactus, unless anyone can correct me

    Gorgeous image, amazing plant

  • Thanks Cathy. It doesn’t have the nicest of smells, but is very rewarding when it decides to flower.

Lovely capture. I was going to say this is a Stapelia – but realized you’d identified. I think maybe Orbea is synonymous, or one name is the most recent. (powers that be in the botanical world love to change names on us!) I’ve got a couple varieties of these, with the most delightful rotting meat aroma!

  • Thank you for your input and for providing some closure on this mysterious and beautiful (pongy) plant.

If I remember correctly this smells really bad. Like rotten meat!
