norries headland

gail woodbury

Kingscliff, Australia

Artist's Description

norries headland was at one time an island..at low tide a spit of sand connected the two… in bad weather the waves would sweep between the rock & the mainland . there are some photos taken around late 1940’s – late 1950’s showing the waves washing through…..
sandminers built a rock wall that now protects the spit & forms this beautiful cove….
this beach is renowned by surfers world wide….
and just down the road for me !!
the signpost for the town says Bogangar, the beach is Cabarita Beach & the locals call it “caba”
