Minyon Falls are located in the Nightcap NP in Far Northern NSW ..The falls are the result of water following from Repentance Creek over the huge cliffs which were once part of the Tweed Volcano..The water flow eventually eroded the underlying basalt to create this beautiful 100mt waterfall …There are many walking trails in this area , but the most significant walk is a 4-5hr trek down to the base of the waterfall & back up – This walk is quite steep & not suitable for everyone .
This beautiful area of the Nightcap NP & the surrounding Whian Whian State Forrest was cared for by the Widjabal Clan of the Bundjalung Nation ..
The area was also logged for it’s rich timber resources from as early as 1830’s , but is now a protected site .
In 1986 Nightcap NP was listed in Goondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage ..
