the sky goes dark blue, the sea goes black

the ground would never
open up and swallow you whole
that takes persuasive digging
I’m told
but the ocean would
take you in
the sea would
wrap its icy arms
around you
without any tempting
at all

one small step and you’re falling, thinking
dirt doesn’t get under your collar, your skin
but water doesn’t differentiate
you planned this
so well
there’s nowhere to go
but inside yourself

the sky goes dark blue
and the sea goes black
there’s a fog across the city
the smoke of a thousand people
burning
and the sea will
swallow you completely
if you ask

the movement of this piece is like that of the blackened waters, ethereal in a sense like the dark blue skies, and as beautiful as the author itself. great stuff
