Take some time out to think about the animals.
.
I cannot begin to tell you how much has been going on over here.
Here is just one example that was on TV last night……
As the police were checking burnt out properties, they came across a ginger tabby cat.
Its face was burned away; one of its eyeballs had exploded in the heat, and its fur and feet
were burned away as well.
But they took it to the Vet, hoping that something could be done.
The surgeon’s took a photo of it and posted it on the notice board in the blackened town, as they had been doing with all the domestic animals.
The owners had been looking through the burned out countryside for a week for there beautiful cat.
They went and checked to see if it was at the veterinary clinic.
And yes it was. The only thing that was to make the cat recognisable was the fact that it was still wearing its green collar with its bell.
The cat is now returning from the dead with love and devotion.
But what about the thousands of Kangaroos, still wandering the countryside with no face or no legs that are left unattended to starve in the black ash.
Or the Wombats, that are now nothing but walking charcoal.
The list and stories go on and on.
The little glider’s that have no trees.
The Koala’s with no feet and claws, let along water and gum leaves to survive on.
Then there are the horses and goats and sheep and dogs and…and…and…and…
We need to let us humans get on with rebuilding our lives and towns with the help of donations and the gov’t, and think more about the animals that don’t have anything other that us…..
So please give something to the Animal Funds in the hope that all of our wonderful rare Australian Wildlife will not become extinct.

Larry, thank you for bringing this plight to everyone’s attention. My firends parents lost their Kinglake home & have been searching for their lost cat ever since the fires – I hope they get an outcome like this, rather than having lost him forever. My vets have had calls to horses, many with badly burnt feet & this often results in them having to be destroyed. There are now very specialist vets at 2 locations who are striving to save horses with burnt hooves – anyone who needs them please google for “bushfire” & “burnt hooves” to find where they are taking horses in. Treatment is FREE for thises horses, as is veterinary care being provided to any bushfire victims!

Good on you Larry…The beautiful creatures need so much help, without us they will continue to die long after the fires have gone with no homes…

My heart hurts with this news my brother, as a wildlife rehabilitator – I wish I was there to help, but I will certainly get the word out and make a contribution, as I know the animals are always put below humans as a casualty of any disaster…
