Utah and D-Day (1) by

This is the 1st image in a set.
This image I took was one of many of this magnificent monument that is found on Utah Beach in Normandy France. which was erected to honor the fallen on this beach during WWII.
One cannot stand and look at this beach without having a tear…….
By the end of D-Day, some 23,250 troops had safely landed on the beach, along with 1,700 vehicles. Only about 200 casualties were recorded during the landings. Several factors contributed to the success at Utah compared to the bloody battle at nearby Omaha:
.
As we visited Utah before Omaha ( 2 of the 5 beaches ) I took this early in the morning as the sun was coming up and just after a shower had past…..
Click here if you want to read about this historic time in this worlds history….
The other beaches were Sword / Juno / and Gold…
( click on image to enlarge and to be able to appreciate the detail..)..

taken with a Lumix G2 with a touch of hdr using x2 images
in Dynamic Photo HDR.
