The Arrival of the Endeavour by Larry Lingard-Davis

Currently unavailable for purchase

Available to buy on…

This is just one in a collection of images of the “Endeavour” that I have resurrected from my shoebox.
Back in 1993 I was on a boat greeting the “Endeavour” as she came through the heads of Port Phillip Bay here in Melbourne.
I took these of her stern as we were mobbed by every ship and boat in the bay……..
Click here if you want to read about this ship..

This image was scanned after being taken with a Pentax Spotmatic 35mm, then hdr x2 images.

I live at Riddells Creek in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria, and have been involved in Horticulture all my life.
I play Blues Harmonica and Bodhran’ in my spare time, as well as getting involved with Genealogy and Medieval History,
I have also been acting for 40 years and was lucky to be cast as a judge in the movie “Stricly Ballroon”…
But my camera is my passion.

Wow, what a superb image! Feels antique and very powerful! :D

  • You can only do so much with an old scanned image, before you stuff it up.
    So I just treaded softly.

what a beautiful sailing vessel Larry ;) xoxox ♥

  • The original “Endeavour”, was the ship that Capt.James Cook made his three Voyages of discovery in, that took him along the east coast of Ausatralia, claiming it for England, then all around New Zealand, then looking for the Northwest Passage and eventually to Hawaii, where he was killed by the natives.

What a day you must have had, wish I was there.
    Thanks for sharing.

  • A friend of mine, who plays bagpipes for “The Rats of Tabruk” had his pipes, and piped her through as she came in through the heads.
    ( goosebumps )
