This is a Public Art Display piece that has been in Melbourne for many years now.
Located on the corner of Russell and Bourke Sts, it now stands on what used to be the entrances to an underground toilet.
This is titled “A History Apparatus – Vessel,Craft & Beacon”
and is by the artist Mr Chris Reynolds, and is only a small part of the complete works which was made in 1993.

    its cool isnt it Larry. i have no idea what its called either. isnt it in front of what used to be the Southern Cross hotel where the beatles where staying when they toured.

    That used to be on the corner of Exhibition and Bourke sts
    ( the next one up, before Spring St ).
    It is now the Southern Cross Towers.
    ( images about to be uploaded.).

    This is outside Darryl Lea and is looking north along Russell St.

  • Since I have been hope for the last month or so, my mind has been working overtime.
    Thank god for my camera & RB.
    I seem to have done some stuff that I wouldn’t have done otherwise.
    Now I feel like I have set myself a new benchmark…..?
