This Albatross was just one of about 4 or 5 that was swooping around, whilst I was out on the bay in Kaikoura New Zealand.
I thought I would give this group of photo’s some space on RB, as the Albatross are becomming one of the most endangered species on the planet. Long line baited hooks from fishing vessels are the main cause and have a lot to answer for…..
So if you have the time, please check out the following web site. Click here

Any sales from the Albatross Group of photo’s, will be donated to " Save The Albatross " Fund.

Taken with a Panasonic Lumix FZ30 Point & Shoot Camera.

I’m going to put a page on my website featuring the organization http://www.rspb.org.uk/supporting/campaigns/alb... that you referred to. The more attention to the plight of these magnificent creatures the better. Thank you for the information …

  • That is fantastic news my friend.
I really appreciate what you do, as at the rate they are dying they will soon become extinct like everything else on this planet.
Take care and best of luck with your images.

Soooo taking my 100-400mm lense with me now. Hopefully I might capture one of these birds when I’m there – fantastic photo :-)))) gorgeous bird

  • What made it easy for me to capture the birds was, going out on the bay when I was in Kaikoura on the Sth Island, and you go on the Albatross Tour. They get the birds to land on the water by hanging a long rope out over the boat with a large piece of ham on the end.
About 8 or 9 different breeds of birds land all at the same time.
You can take a Tele-lens but on this occasion I didn’t need to worry about that sort of thing as the zoom on mine is x12.
And if you go you must stay where we stayed, you will love it..
