A Moat into the Great Tower. by cullodenmist

A Moat into the Great Tower. by

Raglan Castle which is located at Usk in Monmouthshire Wales, is undoubtedly the finest late medieval fortress-palace in Britain.
Built during the 1430’s, this image shows the bridge over the moat that leads the visitor into the Great Tower……

Superb photo. It is good to learn a little bit about the location as well.

  • I always try to place a little bit of info onto each image, because that is what I would like to see myself.

Really interesting shot Larry – shows great detail in the moat that I can’t remember seeing before.

  • The thing that fascinated me, was the gunports in the walls.
These are those open cross like things in the Tower wall, where-as the gun was placed in the lower section, and the eye could make contact from within the top vertical section of the cross.
If I can find the image in question that gives you a closer look at what I am trying to explain, I will post it over the weekend.

Another great shot Larry…I do so wish that I’d had a digital camera when we were over there. Keep these shots coming

  • These images were all taken with an old Pentax Spotmatic 35mm.
I scanned then into a folder, then did some post image work on them prior to uploading.
Most are OK, but a couple are only good enough to view and not to sell.
But hey, it’s all part of the game, isn’t it ????

This reminds me of work by the Dutch artist, Ecsher. Great shot, Larry!

  • G’Day Mate…. Long time – No hear.
    Thanks for the comment.
Hope everything is OK in Savannah.
