Painted on the wall of the Telegraph Hotel at 17 Ann Street in Williamstown, this is a close up of the battle between the Confederate States Navy warship CSS Shenandoah, which had successfully attacked several Union ships in the Indian Ocean during the American Civil War…
The image was taken directly off the wall with nothing added.
.
The American Civil War was not restricted to just America, but had a lot to do with other countries as well….. Australia being one of them, when the CSS Shenandoah berthed in Williamstown for a refit and signed up Australians to help in the war…….

    great work!

  • I love anything to do with the American Civil War.
And when I saw this, I google’d the name of the ship, and so I began a new journey into finding out about
the connection’s that Australia had with America during this Historical Period…..
I’m glad you like this one…. Thanks.
