The Birth of a Phoenix
This was actually in a set of 4 images. The others are titled “To Set the Sky on Fire” and “Raising Rays”, and were taken minutes apart from the others.
They were taken about 8 to 10 minutes apart, and were taken from Wooling Hill at New Gisborne in the Macedon Ranges on Feb 27th 2009. Another warm night with an incredible sunset.
Needless to say, the fires are still burning.
All monies raised from the sale of this image will go to the RB Phoenix Bushfire Appeal.

What an amazing sky. Must have been quite something standing there and seeing this. And then to capture for posterity too!
Larry Davis replied
I could see it developing into something, so I just waited to see what happened. And this was the result after about 4 – 5 minutes.
And it certainly was worth the wait.
Georgie Hart
Wow! Aptly titled and very visually arresting.
Larry Davis replied
I took these not long after the fires.
So the title seemed to blend.
