Bowsprit Ellegance

Bowsprit Ellegance

This is the Bowsprit of the James Craig.
The bowsprit, or boltsprit, of a sailing vessel is a pole extending forward from the vessel’s prow. It provides an anchor point for the forestay’s, allowing the fore-mast to be stepped further forward on the hull.
If you are ever on a Sailing Ship or Tall Ship of any description, this is the best spot for a good image, by looking back over the deck or the masts, or alongside the outer hull,,,,.

Thanks Larry – its quite exciting as Newcastle tries to build it’s tourism interests, we have recently reopened Fort Scratchley on the headland, we have our beautiful Nobbies lighthouse that we would like to open to the public but hasn’t happened yet, now the maritime museum – this is exciting. We’ll be in there at the weekend to check it all out.
