As “Mungo 1”, this painting is part of my most recent series about Lake MUNGO located in Mungo National Park – New South Wales. It’s the eight painting in that series, hence it’s number 8.
Like in ORMISTON GORGE, the sun has already set. The sky in the top middle is already getting darker.
However, the light, in this regular afterglow still bathes the whole landscape, particularly the ripples of hard sand on the ground, in a blue intense light.
This series has been painted over a strech of 2 years, between 2005 and now, after repetitive and regular meetings with this part of the australian land.
Notice: back to earthy and solid colour representing the sand walls and mounds.
Natural pigments + acrylic on rice paper and canvas. Diptych.
