Acrylic on stretched cotton canvas, 24 × 48 inches x 1.5 inches deep. Available as prints, cards:

Inspired by the non giant, non albino grackles that roost in trees in the desert landscape (usually around stores and malls) here in Phoenix, Arizona. I have seen the same in Oklahoma, too. Some birds shed (moult) their primary feathers, which stick in the ground like arrows. Birds figure prominently in my art as they are my favorite animals.

This is really great. The feathers are lovely. Is he molting or is he just under a lot of stress? Your colours are fantastic!

  • Thanks! Both…moulting is stressful, LOL!

Wow is this ever gorgeous. Albino grackle. Ha!! There are so many, you’d think they would occur, though. I used to be awakened at 5 AM every morning in Houston, as they came to roost in the trees downtown outside my condo. Cindy this is a BEAUT. So well painted and blended. Love it and have plus-1’d it and fav’d it too.

  • Thank you, Frannie, I don’t know what plus 1 is, is that one of the social media features? So glad you like this!
