Those Three Words

When you told me about the breifing, you said it made you want, made you think. When I asked what it made you want, you said “to go back”, my world started falling around me, my vision was going black. Because I know that if you return, to that bloodied field, as strong as you are, your body will yeild. You would never return to me, never build your home. You would come back to go into a hole.
You would be getting out, and you wanted to go back in
I did not want my baby to return to that living Hell
it hurt you before, seeing and doing all you did
and the tactics used against your brothers hurt you again
But, you told me you werent,
you would not return
to that place that hurt you
to do what you yearned
To go back, go back to combat
After you had reassured me, and calmed my heart,
you went on to make me start
“Would it be wrong” you said, “if I said ‘I love you’ right now?”
I swear I saw heaven, i felt my heart swell
“Can I have a minute” I said, “to hyperventilate?”
You’re smile I could see, even though you are miles away.
When it was time for us to say bye, as usual, i wanted to keep talking to you
with a promise to talk later, you said those three words again. And I said
“I love you, too”
