Chenrezig, Bodhisattva of Compassion by

Gilded Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion, statue at Dalai Lama temple complex in McleodGanj, India, capital of the Tibetan exile community.

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, has 1000 eyes, to see all the sufferings of sentient beings in samsara, and 1000 hands trying to help ease these sufferings. This deity is sometimes also depicted in female form.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama is considered to be a manifestation of Chenrezig.

About CrypticFragment

Artist’s Statement: "My work focuses on connections. Connections between the past & present, between different cultures, between man and nature, even between colors & forms.

I am strongly influenced by the architecture & arts of ancient civilizations, sacred spaces, native traditions of unique world cultures, & by the power of nature to reclaim what man has built.

My goal is to inspire others to be curious about the world around them, & how everything is interconnected."
