The Great Stupa, Boudhanath, Nepal by

The Great Stupa at Boudha(nath) in Kathmandu, Nepal is one of the most holy sites for Buddhist pilgrimage, reputed to contain the relics of the Buddha prior to the historic Shakyamuni Buddha.

Boudha is one of two large Tibetan communities in Kathmandu, the other being at Swayambu (where there is another large stupa).

This image was shot in April 2011 using a Canon Powershot A580.

About CrypticFragment

Artist’s Statement: "My work focuses on connections. Connections between the past & present, between different cultures, between man and nature, even between colors & forms.

I am strongly influenced by the architecture & arts of ancient civilizations, sacred spaces, native traditions of unique world cultures, & by the power of nature to reclaim what man has built.

My goal is to inspire others to be curious about the world around them, & how everything is interconnected."
