One growing in a Tropical Paradise

…I remember…

A smaller me
With trinkets and toys
Barbie doll rollerblades
Porcelain clowns with masquerade faces
Owner of that little “Press Me” math keyboard
Beholder of the diamond earrings in the bumblebee casing

A smaller me
With my mangy pup, Cartucho and mixed shapes sundress
Speedy Gonzales stuffed animals
Pajamas with penguins and polar bears
Dancing around for my little sisters’ birthday party
Graduating in my brown suede shoes

…I remember…

A smaller me
Eating “gatos” with coffee right before school
And back to lunch on some righteous meatball soup; my dad’s specialty
From the little tiger; now sadly missing a tail
To the bird cage at grandmas; lined with colors any which way
Living on a farm

A smaller me
Playing in the creek that cut across our backyard
And running behind soccer balls too big for me to handle
From chasing ducks in the crazy market place
To twirling during rainy summer mornings
Costa Rica
