The first step forward

I have been undergoing a change in medication and mobility. For the first time in a week I have been without major pain and actually walked to the mailbox and back. Now to get back to my painting…..the medicine I was on released a flood of dopamine throughout my brain which triggers euphorea, how much it controls creativity is the question. We all shall see soon enough.
It feels good to be back.

Where am I going?

The creative juices are flowing but I still don’t know what direction to go. I go from folk art to southwestern, abstracts, landscapes. Will it be florals again? I keep thinking that that perverbial lightbulb will light the way. Someday, maybe, I will finally find the path to where ever I’m going.
Monday Wells Fargo is unveiling the painting purchased for their Historical Museum. I think I’ve been holding my breathe waiting to hear their review. Maybe that review will be the light I’m looking for. The answer to what direction to take.
Have a great weekend.
Befuddled and impatient.

Christmas Eve 2007

I made an apple pie which is the mosty beautiful I have ever made. Photo will be posted soon. For supper tonight we re having bacon-elk burgers, compliments of our neightbor Orlando. He also brought us moonshine and elk backstrap. Needless to say…we’re a happy lot tonight!
Snow is expected tomorrow and the Lord knows it’s cold enough! I really must take photos of the mountains for you. I will, tomorrow, really I will.
I must go and season the pork loin for tomorrow.

Merry christmas to all you bubblers

My memories of Christmas Past

These are memories of my childhood..

It seemed to always snow!
Rides in a horse pulled sleigh!
Grandma getting out the home made corn liquor and playing the harmonica and dancing a little jig!
Grandpa and the uncles playing cards…poker I’m sure!!
My great uncle Mike….a tall man with a big voice and cigar.
At least 25 of the 47 first cousins being at Grandmas’.
The men would get fed first in the dining room, the kids would fallow and the women of coarse would be in the kitchen, gossiping , cooking and cleaning and the last to eat….the roast wild ducks and geese, the ham, the turkey and all the trimmings.
Midnight Mass Christmas eve and Mass Christmas Morning.

I would like to wish you all Merry Christms and Happy Holidays!!

Brrrrr. cold!!

10 Degrees is what it says but with windchill it’s 3. Too cold for my blood.
I’m taking a break from a new painting…..ballroom dancers….and I think it’ll go to the chop shop. Contortionists is what they are.
Truchas peaks are covered with show and the sunrise was magnificent!! Pastels lighting the horizon to the east but the best color was to the west with peach colored lighting on the Jemez. The white fog billowing out of the canyons, silvery againt the gray of the few low clouds was just awesome. I must photograph this….we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

How did I end up here?

New mexico is different….no family here….no kids here…no life here for me. This disease is killing me .I guess that’s why we came ..to get it out of my face. I can’t lift the little ones or play the way I used to… Oh, I won’t die soon, I will linger on through a number of years losing my ability to move at will…instead shaking from the medication. All I ask is that I do not shake for a couple of hours day to paint. I pray to at least do that. Don’t get me wrong now…I love my husband , my life and my pal Sammie, (the dog) and my art but It’s the Holidays and I miss the little feet running, the screams of delight, the smiley faces and runny noses, grandma this and that. At least I won’t have to eat an apple pie that looks like a volcano and act like I enjoy it. What a mess those…

Sat. only 24 days til Christmas

Our kids are many miles away except for 1 of them who we have not seen for 2 years. Steve is in the Navy and is doing well. Cant wait to see the strapping you man he has become.

I started painting yesterday and not snow and color but sirens bathing in a pond. Washing they colorful scarves and drying them in the breeze. I’m excited about this one. I had thought of painting it a while back and said no it’s not time. Everything comes in an order with me lately. Never mind, it all get s done. I must go finish the painting.

It's Friday!

I know this because it said it was going to storm. It always storms on the weekend!] The mountains around us are to get up to 2 feet but we show up as a brown spot. We are a mile high and it ’s a gray day out there folks.
I am thinking something wild for the day. A lot of color to brighten it…

Have a good one! I’ll let you know about snow and color. Good combo right?
