An Australian firm is under fire for selling baby clothes with pictures of Hitler and Osama bin Laden on them.
Pictures of the serial killers Ivan Milat, Ted Bundy and Charles Manson also feature on garments for children from three months to the age of 12.
Slogans such as “Serial Killer in Training” accompany the images.
According to news reports, the range of garments, in sizes from 000 rompers for three-month-old babies, to T-shirts for children up to 12, has sparked outrage.
The Ivan Milat baby romper has a picture of his face and the slogan: “Australians Just Love Backpackers”. T-shirts bear the words “Free Ted Bundy” and “Ted Bundy is Innocent”, and “Serial Killer in Training” alongside graphic images.
Other clothes feature images of a syringe and a spoon high-fiving each other with the slogan “Team work” and Julia Gillard with the slogan “Deliberately barren”.
The founder and CEO of international artists website redbubble.com said offending garments were removed once complaints had been received.
But according to News Ltd, there were still dozens for sale on the website on Friday night, a forum for aspiring and established artists.
The site is run from Flinders St, Melbourne and San Francisco.
~ I’ve been concerned about the controversy around Rb for some time, and thought the Admin would get it sorted out … obviously not… I will need to seriously think about my remaining on this site, if I don’t see some real re-dress and cleaning-up of some folks egoistic-attitudes towards its Membership.
I’m also STILL waiting for a reply on a racial/religious vilification issue I lodged several weeks ago, concerning identified art pieces (Tshirts) that RB seem to be supporting to the degree of ridiculous stubbornness.
