Harsh words and objects,
Hurled through the air.
I‘m just a child,
Why don’t you care?

Slaps and whippings,
Dispensed most free.
Shh, be quiet,
The perfect family.

The stench of liquor,
Wrapped up in smoke.
Please don’t touch me,
Dad?! What a joke.

I never understood,
The lure of alcohol.
The total escape,
The wonder of it all.

But now, I see clearly,
Through a drunkard’s eyes.
Life is manageable,
Liquor does make you wise.

Daddy’s little girl,
After all these years.
A few empty bottles,
And no more tears.
