Thanks Matt… the funny thing, it is that I always wished for an occasion to take such a shot… and one day when I was a bit down, I saw that beauty flying by in my rear view mirror (I was in my car.) I then said out loud… “Just stick around please, I would love to take a picture of you.” So I hurried and grabbed my camera out of my bag, and “hurried slowly” towards where he has landed. I took a few shots… (this one was one of them.) he was so gracious and gentle… and then he flew away to sit on a dead great-mullein… so I took more shots afterwards… When he left once more, I thanked him and away he flew.
Mick… patience will bring you there… Next time I see one, I will tell him to go and visit you… (they travel sooo much, that there might be a chance you meet this one… Just ask, maybe “he” will do you a favor… ;) Thanks for the comments… :)
I like the flowers to the front. We cheat on our monarch shots – we raise them during the summer. They are quite docile once hatched – it takes a full 30 min or so for the wings to fully dry, allowing all sorts of wonderful photo opportunities! Then…. zip! Off they go! Nature captures are SOOOO much more difficult – you did excellent here! Thanks for sharing!
Oh… Thank you so much EmmaLeigh… I so wish to once be in a butterfly hatchery (if I may call it as such… ) They are so beautiful I feel so grateful to have this shot.. (I have a few more that I will upload this week… ) Much Love to you… :)
What a great macro, well captured, beautifully presented with the soft surrounding colours, & to top it off we have the two little flowers in the forground …... couldn’t do better than that my friend!
I know Artsy3… it is sad to see that nature is being hit as such… I sure hope that my photography can help people think twice at times… Thanks for your comment… :)
Great shot! I love butterflies! I like to think that I help raise Monarchs with my butterfly garden :) Their Winter habitat in the Rain Forest is being destroyed, so they are close to becoming endangered. You did a great job capturing this image!

Brilliant shot – what natural beauty you have captured – ban all pesticides I say – go organic – as I believe these are almost endangered?
