    Hi Christiina,
Your work is unique and stands out from others. You add in dimensionality that really makes your images special. Are you considering quitting? Because there are so many other reasons than excellent artwork, for continuing. Without knowing what you are thinking, I can’t give much more of an answer than this. Can you clarify?

    HM….....
I am drawing and painting for reasons like: joy, liberation, communicate…......
but I find myself in a mess: I really can’t have much time, only steal time…... working on nights especially….. till now…
and…...... my husband is a very earthly person….... he thinks I am loosing my time with ….. let’s say: nothing…..he thinks that I am LOOSING my time….. and I wonder…...is he right?
I sold some of my paintings, ppl likes them. but I doubt myself a lot these days…..
and on the other hand, I hardly broke up with every each one of it…...it’s really hard to sell….. lol
selling maybe make my husband think different, but…..............................................................

    ambiguous situation….......

Hi Cristina! I just want to let you know that your work is so exquisite! Competion is quite fearce when it comes to selling your work. If you rely on people like myself, and goodness knows how many there are? Money can be an issue. It isn’t to do with your work, it is with people who have limited income that may only select to buy what they themselves produce?
Maybe you should also take some of your work to places, and that is where I have no experience at all, who would buy them of you or exhibit them for you?
But RB is a wonderful place to give confidence by all of the positive feedback, which keeps me motivated at least. But I really do love your work, I thought to tell you,
    Sylvia :-)

    this I wanted to know…........
    love,

OK, I understand now. Thanks for the clarification. I can tell you for sure, you are not wasting your time!! Your art work is outstanding and you need to expand your exposure to other markets outside of RB. Perhaps get an agent? Go to local art galleries with a portfolio and see if you can get your work displayed there. Go to local boutiques that sell unique things. If you have local art fairs or events or something similar, try to set up a booth or get your work in with someone that is willing to take it on consignment. The key word here is persistence!! Rejection is common when first starting to market art. It is the persistent person that succeeds in this arena.
Just for fun, you might try Ebay or Craig’s list. Step outside your comfort zone and see what happens.
You could have a big niche in the art market if you promoted yourself.

    lol….... I just haven’t time for this.. I barely have time for paint…..... lol…........
    and if it’s up to me…... I don’t want to sell…...... I loose a piece of me every time I sell one…...... that’s why it’s ambiguous…..

only you can decide whether it is worth continuing.

If you create your art for others to admire, and you get no admiration, it can be very hard.

If you create your art to sell, and nobody buys, that too can be hard.

If you create your art because you have that creative desire, and that ability to fulful that desire, that can be satisfying.

Is creativity for its own sake a waste of time? Some might think so. Is stopping to gaze up at the stars a waste of time? Some might think so. Is stopping to smell a flower a waste of time? Some might think so.

But should we live our lives at the beck and call of what others consider to be a waste of time? I don’t think so.

I hope you come to a place of peace in this matter because your art, YOUR ART, is precious.

If you are doing what comes from your heart and if you are doing what you love and feel compelled to do, you can never be wasting your time. If you do these things for the right reasons you are building who you are and you are enriching your life, and the lives of the people around you by being who you are. Surely this is important. Keep being the person you are and doing what enriches you as a person.

If you decide to stop painting do you have a plan to fill the creative void sure to be left?

Because my response was so long I decided to just do a journal entry. I can be long winded and I didn’t want to do a copy paste here. My full response to your entry is on my RedBubble journal.

    Your fellow artist,
    Austin

If you really enjoy what you do that should be enough. If you are not happy then you have to decide what to do. I love your work. I hope you stay. We all go through this. I do every day. I work hard and come up with few things to put up here on bubble. Only one sale. but I still try. I will be sad if you leave. I have missed your work. If I did not like your work you not be on my watch list. I do not know what more to say. I LOVE YOUR WORK.:) :) :) :)

maybe the reason you’re thinking you should put things down , is because you’re not willing to sell your work, however if you’re not getting any sells, welllllllll ..you will need to eventually let them go
look at it this way…each time one of your pieces sell, you are going with that person, your creation is in another’s view, that is as proud of you are owning it
when i meet someone who buys my photography, im really at a loss for words, it doesnt sink in until later..this person..actually liked it enough to display on their wall at home to look at all the time, or thought it was good enough to give as a gift
from just browsing at your work, you’re an outstanding artist, you have the type of art you see hanging in art galleries, or museums….
id suggest, you start selling your work
its time to allow someone else to enjoy your creation….pass it on
who knows you might be the inspriration of someone else, or their child, or a friend
so pass it on :) and keep on doing what you love to do

thank you with all my heart….......

pls understand…......all of you that it’s not about selling. I never think of that when I create something. look at my works…... there is always my feelings or thinkings….. I want, yes, I wanted to know if you fid something, a meaning, in my works….... to keep doing what I do…....couse it’s no use to speak to a deaf or to show something to a blind…..

I had lately more pressions around me….. those made me doubt myself…..
I wanted to know that art worth to fight for, and now…...... you gave me power.
thank you, you! you marvellous ppl!!!!!!!! as I said in Magdalene’s journal, I didn’t know WE ARE so much and YOU ARE so supportive….

    love,
    cristina

Christina , it isn’t all about financial rewards , if you enjoy doing your art that is all that matters. If you were putting paintings out on a commercial basis there would be no heart in them . You put on the canvas or paper what you feel at the time. Don’t give up ,even if you just do it for your own pleasure.

Art isn’t something you do…it’s something you are, and try as you might there’s no getting away from it.
