EDIFICE/THE VEIL: The Meaning Of Life Is In Everything
This piece, one of twelve, is part of a 2008 series entitled EDIFICE/THE VEIL. This series marks my first artistic endeavour in which I am the sole subject and was created for my final assessment at University. I used this opportunity to turn the camera on myself and for the first time, share my personality directly through my art.
Each self-portrait is masked by a part of myself. My constant introspection has revealed many of the different structures and thought processes that make me who I have become, whether good or bad.
Fundamentally, it goes against my nature to expose the deepest parts of myself to others and this long standing convention has prevented me from sharing as much of myself in my art as I would have liked. This series has allowed me to break down my guard.
Each piece is 21cm x 21cm.
