Veldt fires are a day to day occurrence during the winter month in Midrand. The times when I am stressed and have to focus to stay calm. Birds suffer and gather, for the air is thick and pieces fall onto the properties from the sky. It’s hard to breath. Yet “no public smoking” is allowed.

Fantastic work Christiane well done, must be awful all that smoke

  • So kind of you Roy! Yes, it is irritating, every day and sometimes 3 per day from different directions. One cannot concentrate and focus or relax. For I cannot see how far or near. Find it very difficult to concentrate with the smell and all. The reason why we want to sell the property and move to a more civilized and protected area. 1 ha property is anyway to big for me since our son crossed over, and would be ideal for a business opportunity. Thank you so much for caring! Love from Christiane

It is a wonderful shot Christiane, but how sad you have to go through this. I hope you can sell very soon and move on, althought I know it will be hard to do. Take care xxx

  • Thank You, Angela, truly very hard. It took me 20 years to develop this property into a garden, planted each tree myself. Now that Marcus is gone it does not make sense anymore. We would love to move near our daughter in the Cape. For one person this property has become to stressful. Sad story! Feel the energy could be used more constructively. Sending you a warm Sunday Hug, with love from Christiane

Very beautiful capture of your very special place Christiane! Shame about all the smoke must be awful for you. Hope you’ve had a lovely Sunday:))))

  • Thank you for your kind comment and compassion, Graham. Yes, it is so difficult to concentrate and meditate with daily smoke around. Running with water pipes, stressing through the whole winter. Yesterday again twice, and difficult to concentrate as soon as you smell it, must keep windows closed. Hope you had a serene, calm Sunday! With warm hugs to you from Christiane

  • The main thing is also that the fire brigade does not want to come in because they are afraid of our dogs…! How can I run with a hose, lock in 6 dogs and open the remote for the far away electrical gate (my neighbors put there), and unlock my own gate, all at the same time? I hope that your wish comes true, Leonie! For an artist that lives in other worlds most of the time, this is a true nightmare. We also had to give up breeding with parrots for the same reason. Only have a few Ringnecks left. Not to mention the burglars, the reason why we need the dogs. Hope for a miracle to move house. Thank you for your great compassion and heart!!! Love to you from Christiane

I love these kind of trees…I mean nature is the only one that I believe often..and it’s really make us so chilled when we want to be’s such a wonderful capture …..great job….

  • So true what you write, WaGiOmS! In the meantime we have spring and the tree is green leaved, talking! Yes talking from now on through the whole summer. I often stand underneath and listen. Almost as if the wind is playing on the leaves telling a story. Mysterious and exciting at the same time. Not sure, but think its a plane tree. (Platane in German). Thank you so much for visiting so many places in my gallery! Thank you also for all the Faves!!! Great big smile to you from Christiane
