oh, ok, so sorry. most of us are honored by being an avatar but I see you are not.
I will remove it from the challenge avatar, and also remove it from my favorites, as I now see it is as not so cute. no need to be so grumpy. You really should thank people for their appreciation of your art.
It’s not a matter of me not appreciating the gesture, or being grumpy. I just need to be contacted before my art is used. For instance, what if a group you did not support chose to use your artwork to represent themselves? It’s just a way of making sure the artist has control over what their art is used for. Another example would be (and I’m not comparing you to this example, it’s just purely to explain how not asking could be damaging) if a group that supported cruelty or things that I do not support used my artwork. It creates bad associations. I know your group probably didn’t fall into that category, it’s just very important that you ask first. I don’t have any hard feelings against you, I just want to make that clear :)
or “represent the group” it was simply a sample of what I thought was a cute, funny animal T-shirt, that is all a challenge avatar is you know, a sample. not like I hung it up in a gallery, my gosh. do the hosts have to ask your permission before featuring your work too? quite hoity-toity and unappreciative of you.
No need to make judgments like that. I don’t find it hoity toity at all or unappreciative at all. I never said I didn’t appreciate the fact that you like my image. I do. It’s nice of you. I just want people to respect my rights as an artist, and the fact is you used my image to represent something (that’s what an avatar is, a representation) without first getting my consent. They don’t need to ask because it is their website, and I know their intentions are just to promote work. Next time, all you have to do is ask. Something along the lines of “Hi, I like this piece a lot and I was wondering if I could use it as an avatar for my group?” would have been fine. I would have looked into your group and then likely told you it was fine. That’s it. Common courtesy.

also, I was not using it to”represent myself” that is just insulting!
Cricket O'Brien replied
I don’t see how that’s insulting?
