This Way Up by

It strikes me funny that, when I have been working for a while on an abstract, that it takes on a definite orientation. You’d think that something that doesn’t look like any THING wouldn’t care which way it was turned, but I tried rotating this every which way and kept coming back to this way up.

Ginny this is a fantastic piece . Your use color and your ability for design is superior. Really a very good work of art.

  • Wow, Jim, thanks very much! I can’t tell you how many forms it took before I was satisfied enough to share it with others. Originally, it was more flowy and liquid looking—I liked it but there was something incomplete about it. Then the inspiration came to break it up, and break some more, hoping all the while to recognize the point where stopping would be a good thing. Your feedback is invaluable to me.

Recognizing the point to stop is probably a universal problem with most artist. Obviously you made the right choice. I love the warmer top left corner and the way it radiates outward. It’s just a well done piece Ginny.

I admire your willingess to move around between different artforms, Ginny. Is this a computer-generated piece?

  • Thank you, Gregory. Ever since I moved past fingerpainting in kindergarten, I have been trying every medium I can find; I enjoy them all, but digital is my current favorite. Yes, this piece is wholly digital, begun with a blank white window on my screen.
