Artist's Description

Naming this was the tricky part. It started to look like fire, so I wanted to call it Jungle Flame or Tropical Fire. Then I thought polynesian and tried to come up with another “p” word for fire, but couldn’t think of any. Ran through a list of “p” words and lit upon popcorn, and that was going to be it until I found punch.

This is an extremely tweaked version of the hibiscus in Red, Actually run through various filters in photoshop, primarily wave and poster edge, with the color saturation bumped up way high, then crop, copy, paste, flip and repeat.

By the time I was done, I felt I had achieved an interesting abstract pattern with a lot of punch to it, reminding me of fire dancing to a jungly beat.

Also, I am still undecided which way is up and have tried flipping the image vertically to see which way I like it best. Either way is good, actually, so I just flipped a coin to post it this way.
