Some of my favorite things are to be found on my bookshelves. Books, for one, top my all time list of favorite things. Ever since I was old enough to hold a book upside down and pretend to read, I have loved books with a passion. Also on the shelves are treasures like an old cigar box, with I know not what in it; a glass paperweight, a gift from a friend; next to that, a little catnip mouse (don’t ask me how it got there); I Ching and Tarot cards; a photo of me, signed to my daddy with love and framed in a leather case that he carried into WWII … all the more poignant because I did not lay eyes on him again until I was thirty-two.
If I had planned this picture, I would have at least staged it properly, with all the book titles right way up. But, no, I was just scanning the shelves one day looking for something fresh to read, when I was suddenly struck by the inspiration. looking at this now, I see I need to purge my shelves (as well as all my other possessions) of out dated things. I don’t suppose that the Idiot’s Guide to Mac OS 8.5 will do anybody any good now … except, possibly, as a collectors item … anybody?
Oh, and for the benefit of any who cannot believe how adorable I was, yes, in 1944, and is not satisfied with the enlarged view of this picture, below is a detail of the sweet little mini me:
Card option has been deslected because of the cropping issue, which, fortunately, is not a problem with laminated prints.
