This image came off my camera as a complete surprise. Obviously an accidental click of the shutter, because the pictures on either side of it were normal shots recording my process of reupholstering some dining room chairs. Having no idea what this is actually a picture of, I nevertheless was quite taken with the organic feel of it, almost like an x-ray. The only digital tinkering I did with the image was to enhance the contrast and saturation, and add a somewhat granular texture for an artistic sort of colored-pencil effect. Otherwise, the photograph is as it came from the camera.
This is the first abstract effort of mine that was created from a photo gone wrong, setting me onto a new path of deliberate distortions for artistic effect. It is a lot of fun, I must say, and I seldom have a clue how it is going to turn out. My digital abstracts pretty much create themselves with only a little guidance from me.
I originally named it Osteo-organic Abstract because it puts me in mind of an X-ray, with bones and organs and stuff, but I’m not really happy with the title. And here we are some years later, and a new name suddenly occurs to me. Will see now if Bone Deep strikes any chords.

no lie i tried to view this earlier and my machine crashed. it is most cool !!!!!!!!
Looks gorgeous, Ginny. Beautiful abstract.
I love the pastel tones in this, and the gentle swirls. The grainy texture you applied has worked wonders to make it abstract. Very nicely done.
Wonderful abstract Ginny ~ fitting title too .. I love the subtle treatment added :)
