I just got back from a little jaunt to Key West, Florida. Never having spent much time there, it was a wonderful experience to go there with a former resident to act as tour guide, so I got to see parts of the “real” Key West, where tourists may not venture.
I loved all the old houses there. There were little ones and large ones, and not many in between. There were houses in lovely condition and houses that looked pretty run-down, and not many in between. Regardless of the size or condition, however, what they all had in common was their intimate relationship with their surrounding foliage, an astounding variety of trees and other tropical plantings. The houses in KW all seem to be embraced by nature.
