What is it about sunsets? Everybody’s seen a million of them. For me, the sight of the fading sun lighting up the clouds before retiring for the night is one thing that connects everyone on the planet with each other as well as with everyone who has ever lived. When I think that when my grandma was little, she may have looked in awe at a sunset like this, or that people who lived five hundred or a thousand years ago would certainly have looked up and breathed a sigh of appreciation, it makes me feel that we humans are so small … we come and go, and this sunset business will be happening long after we’ve gone.
This particular lovely display was captured in the skies over Clearwater, Florida, during an outdoor jazz concert one evening last year. There is very little done to this picture in the way of processing, except for resizing and a little cropping. The colors you see are pretty much just as they were, seen over the tops of the refreshment tents.
