This is a watercolor that I have been working on for years and finally gave up, and have it in my living room half finished. Today I suddenly had the inspiration to finish it digitally, so I photographed it and added the final details and did some color adjusting.
The girl and kitty were modeled from a snapshot taken years ago of a former coworker’s daughter and her very patient and long-suffering cat. The picture was so grainy that my coworker asked me to scan it and see if I could clean it up somewhat for her. She was happy with the job I did, but I always wanted to paint it, to capture the joy and passion a child has for her first pet.
Ginny, this is so precious! I love it! Your color palette is wonderful! Glad you got it finished.
Thank you, Ruth. I started painting this in 2003, so I am happy to have it done as well. I got everything done but the details in the faces and was more comfortable doing that digitally.
You did a lovely job on this. Gotta love what can be done digitally with Photoshop or one of the other programs. Has your former coworker seen this yet?
Beautiful work; I love how the cat is almost as big as the kid! The long body hanging down, and the patience of the cat…great capture!
Thank goodness for digital art tools, too. They have saved a few of my pieces that I wasn’t happy with. And as for unfinished works, I have one painting that I kept putting away for ten years before finally finishing it (by hand not digitally though).
And thank goodness for patient, mellow kitty cats, content to be lugged aorund by little girls. Thank you for stopping by.

Well done. It’s always worth it when you finally see your works complete, even if it does take much longer than anticipated.
Fantastic gal, really did a super job with this. It looks terrific.
I was hoping you would like it, Jim.
