Beach at Longboat Key near Sarasota, Florida. The stunning aquamarine color of the water is due to the fine white sand extending out into the key. Being here makes me just want to breathe deeply and be grateful that I am a Floridian.

THANKS very much everyone for your supportive comments. Marts, it was the colors in the water that made me stop my car to get out and gawk, extremely grateful that my camera was with me. The beautiful jewel tones of the water are made possible by the white sand underlying that part of the Gulf. The sand is white and fine on this side of Florida, as it is sifted out from the coarser stuff that is washed around from the Atlantic side. I love it. It makes squeaky sounds when you scuff thru it with bare feet.

  • Thanks very much. It was a most beautiful day, and the light was so clear … almost magical.
