This is an altered version of the first “Cuttings” to provide an old fashioned feel.

I have been making quite a mess of my dining room table lately, cutting and sewing my way through three quilts and now a number of handbags. All of this leaves a litter of little fabric scraps lying around and, as I happened to espy a pile of them lying haphazardly on the table the other day, it struck me that they looked like a geometric abstract. Well of course I could not let that idea go until I had photographed some fabric scraps and posted the results.

I gathered up as many little snippets as I could find and dropped them fairly randomly onto a piece of typing paper and kept adding stuff until very little white was showing through. The intent was to make the pile looking artfully messy so, while the placement is generally random, I must admit that I nudged a piece or two into a better position.

This and a couple other renditions of the same material (varied to give a viewer a choice of color treatments) would make a great card for someone you know who sews or even a nice print for your own sewing room.
