Bear Man

Bear Man

I found a statuary garden today filled with wonderful figures. This Native American looks all geared up for either hunting or making war, wearing his bear head and claws. Can anyone tell me what tribe this gentleman might be from? It would be nice to know more about the history of his people … before and after their run-in with Manifest Destiny.

Thanks very much. Most people think of the western U.S. in relation to Native Americans, but there were plenty of interesting eastern tribes. They were the
ones who met the boat, so I guess they either moved west or died off first.
